The way water pumps move fluids is by means of a centrifugal effect, generated by an internal rotating mechanism which sucks the fluids through an inlet port. These fluids are moved with force by the rotor, the movement of which results in the fluid being expelled under pressure from the outlet port.

By the type of water they move:

Foul water pumps. These pumps can withstand the transfer of water with a certain amount of particles without affecting their performance. They are capable of handling particles between 20 to 38 mm in diameter, so they are often used to remove sewage, in excavations, wells or to remove water from flooded sites.

Although you can also use dirty water pumps to remove clean water, these tend to be more expensive, so if you will only be using your water pump to remove clean water, buying a domestic pump would be a more economical purchase.

Place of installation

Think about where you will install your pump and what work it will do before buying it, as depending on these factors, you will have to choose one that suits your needs, as there is no such thing as a universal water pump. Automatic electronic control

If you will be installing your clean water pump permanently in one location, such as your home or yard, an automatic electronic control system will switch it on whenever it detects a change in pressure in your water distribution system.

For example, say when you take a shower you open the shower head in the bathroom, the automatic electronic control will detect this and turn the pump on, thus increasing the volume of water entering your network, which in turn increases the force of the water coming out of the shower head. Ideal if you like to shower under pressure or have power in your hose.

Float switch

A float switch is an accessory that can be included with the pump at the time of purchase, or can be purchased and installed at a later date. It consists of a small float that is installed in the tank or pool, which acts as an on and off switch depending on the water level.

This switch will prevent accidents such as the motor overheating, as it will turn it off once it detects that the tank from which it draws water is running low. It can also be used to avoid overfilling a tank or pool, as it can be set to turn the pump off once the water level reaches a predetermined height.

Anti-vibration mounts: Due to the stresses that a water pump is subjected to it tends to move a little, which can result in accidents if left to move on its own. An anti-vibration mount will prevent it from moving while running, if you can’t find one with this type of mount, get one that allows it to be bolted to the floor.
