Stevia: Frequently asked questions

What types of Stevia are there and what determines a good product?

There are many different types of Stevia. The most common ones used in the U.S., and those that we use, are Reb A (Rebaudioside-A) and Reb D (Rebaudioside-D). These two have been studied extensively for their safety profile, as well as having a very high sweetness level with no bitter aftertaste like other natural sweeteners such as Monk Fruit or Erythritol do. They also don’t cause any digestive issues because they aren’t absorbed into your blood stream so there is nothing to ferment in your gut which can lead to bloating/gas/cramping etc…

Stevia is a natural product, and as such the quality of each batch can vary. The best stevias are made from organically grown leaves that have been dried in the sun to preserve their freshness. They should be free of additives or preservatives and processed at low temperatures so they retain all their goodness.

Who should use a Stevia?

Anyone who wants to lose weight, or anyone that is trying to get off of sugar. Stevia will help you reduce your cravings for sweets and it also tastes great.

Based on what criteria should you buy a Stevia?

Stevia is a natural sweetener that comes from the leaves of an herb called stevia rebaudiana. It has been used for centuries as a sweetener in South America, but it wasn’t until recently that this plant was discovered by scientists and then refined into its current form. There are two main types of stevia on the market today – whole leaf extract (WLE) and purified extracts such as Reb A or Reb D. The WLE contains all parts of the leaf including stems, veins etc., while purified extracts contain just one part – either pure glycosides (Reb A), or pure diterpene alcohols (Reb D). Both have their advantages depending on what you want to use them for; however we recommend using only whole-leaf products because they are more potent than any other type of extract available at present time.

There are two things to look out for. The first is the source of Stevia, and second is how much steviol glycosides it contains. You want a product that has at least 95% pure extract from the whole leaf (not just isolated compounds). Also make sure you’re getting 100-200 times more sweetness than sugar so you don’t have to use as much.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of a Stevia?

Advantages

Stevia is a natural sweetener that has been used for centuries in South America. It contains no calories and does not raise blood sugar levels, making it an ideal alternative to artificial sweeteners like aspartame or saccharin. In addition, stevia can be added to foods without altering their taste or texture because of its unique ability to enhance the flavors around it while masking bitterness.

Disadvantages

Stevia is not a good choice for people with diabetes. It can also cause digestive upset in some individuals, although this side effect seems to be rarer than it used to be. Some people complain that stevia has an unpleasant aftertaste or bitter taste; others say they don’t notice any difference between the sweetener and sugar.
