There are two main types of stevia on the market today – whole leaf extract (WLE) and purified extracts such as Reb A or Reb D. The WLE contains all parts of the leaf including stems, veins etc., while purified extracts contain just one part – either pure glycosides (Reb A), or pure diterpene alcohols (Reb D). Both have their advantages depending on what you want to use them for; however we recommend using only whole-leaf products because they are more potent than any other type of extract available at present time.

There are two things to look out for. The first is the source of Stevia, and second is how much steviol glycosides it contains. You want a product that has at least 95% pure extract from the whole leaf (not just isolated compounds). Also make sure you’re getting 100-200 times more sweetness than sugar so you don’t have to use as much.
