The Best Brother Printer: Our Picks
Buying Guide
When it comes to choosing a brand for your next purchase, you need to know every detail about it. You don’t just need to know if it’s good or bad, you need to dig deep to find the features you’re looking for in a quality product.
Is the Brother printer compatible with Mac?
If you are looking for something more specific, models like the Brother MFCJ460D, MFCJ480DW, MFCJ485DW, MFC9130W and MFCL2700DW are perfect for MAC. They are also compatible for WIFI connection to your Mac.
What is the difference between the Brother printer and other brands?
The reliability of this printer is not only in the durability of its cartridges, but also in the fact that it has very few problems. While the HP or EPSON has to be taken to a technician 1 or 2 times a year, the Brother continues to work without any problems. Unfortunately its photo quality and printing speed is low.
Brother | Other brands (EPSON, HP and Samsung) | |
---|---|---|
Max Print Speed | 50 Pages Per Minute | 100 Pages Per Minute |
Max Scan/Copy Speed | 110 Pages Per Minute | 100 Pages Per Minute |
Yield per cartridge | 5,000 copies normal – 15,000 copies high yield | 3,000 copies normal – 5,000 copies high yield |
Repairs or problems per year | 1 – 2 times | 2 – 4 times |
How can I clean my Brother printer?
In TEST the ink jet is more violent, detaching the residues that are in its heads. Another way to do this is from the touch panel of your Brother printer, using the menu and then “ink maintenance”, until you get to the TEST option. After the test use the alignment option to rearrange the printheads.
How to install a Brother printer?
If you don’t have the installation CD to connect it to your computer, don’t worry, you can download the drivers from the official Brother website. There you will find the different Brother printer models and their 100% original drivers. Remember to download the ones that correspond to your operating system.
Fun facts: what you didn’t know about Brother printers
Where is the Brother printer manufactured?
What warranty does the Brother printer have, and how can I claim it?
To get the additional one year commercial warranty, simply register your product on Brother’s official website and you will automatically get it. To make it valid, simply bring your product and invoice to your authorised Brother dealer or Brother service centre.
Does the Brother printer have automatic duplex printing?
The good news is that the brand rectified this and started making printers with automatic duplex printing, making life much easier for its customers and producing more sales per year. Need one with this feature? The MFC-J6930DW and the MFC-T910DW are our favourites.

Usage
No matter what you need to use your next printer for, you can be sure that Brother has a suitable model for it. Knowing what we need a printer for allows us to choose the right model, as it will be tailored to our needs.
Personal. Looking for the best printer for your home? Brother has a wide range of multifunctional options that address tasks that may arise in the home. Like the DCP-J572DW and the MFC-J497DW with double-sided printing that you can connect to your mobile phone via WIFI, plus they’re pocket-friendly.
SMBs and offices. Looking for high performance in your small business or office, Brother has multifunctional printers (fax, copy, scan, print) in both inkjet and colour. These products (T510W, T910W, HL-L5200DW and HL-L5100DN) are capable of making up to 99 copies in one instruction.
Printing Technology
In today’s printer market there are 2 types of printing technology and Brother is not lagging behind in bringing out products with these technologies. Each of them brings something different to the finish that our copies or prints will have.
Inkjet. Inkjet technology has been responsible for years for giving us a good finish, vivid colours in trifolds and graphics, as well as an economical price. The Brother Inkjet printer, with models such as the MFC-J6930DW, MFC-J6945DW and DCP-J572DW, is one of the most reliable printers on the market for its durability and long-term performance.
Laser. Laser technology offers maximum monochrome printing capability, with impeccable colour finishing, but is quite slow. One of the most attractive features of these Brother printers (HL-L8260CDW, HL-L5200DWLT and HL-1210W) is the durability of their toner cartridge (3 times longer than an inkjet cartridge) although it is a more expensive product.
Features
Beyond the cartridge, speed and overall reliability you are looking for in a printer, there are sure to be features that make one model more attractive than another. This is one of the reasons why you should pay attention to the features before you buy.
Automatic duplex printing. Forget about moving a sheet of paper fresh out of the printer to achieve a double-sided print. The MFC-J6930DW, HL-L2370DN and MFC-T910DW are some of the models that do this job for you by giving you maximum functionality, without wasting your precious time.
Wireless connection. No more having to connect your printer to a computer to use it. All Brother printer models now feature wireless connection via WIFI for printing from your tablet or smartphone.
2 in 1 and 4 in 1. Need to put 2 documents on a single sheet? What if I told you that you can fit up to 4 documents on one. The 2 in 1 and 4 in 1 functions of the Brother printer allow you to scan 2 or 4 sheets to transform them into 1 and have all the information you need compressed.
Print speed and ink savings
Speed and ink saving are other important aspects of buying a printer and Brother has its own specifics. Before you make your next purchase we advise you to take a look.
Speed. Brother’s print speed is not the best on the market. Most products have speeds ranging from 15 to 30 ppm in monochrome, while they slow down considerably from 10 to 20 ppm in colour. Although there are models that reach 50 ppm in black such as the HL-L6400DWTZ.
Ink savings. A study by “Comprar-Improras” found that Brother printers have the best ink savings, as they can print up to 5,000 copies with a normal cartridge. While they only waste 2.8 grams of ink each month – 50% less than the competition!
